When we designed Shnuggle, we wanted it to be be much safer than the traditional Maize or Palm leaf Moses

Shnuggle Recycleable

baskets, so we looked at all the things that made these baskets weak or unsafe.

We found that the maize leaves weaken and degrade with use, with all the fibres snapping and the basket losing shape and strength.  Also, as the fibres get damn or mouldy, they weaken and break too.

We carefully selected the best material to make Shnuggle from, which offer the perfect blend of super strength, flexibility, recycleability, pthtalate free, quiet and light weight. This material is HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)

To give you an idea, a Moses basket should safely hold 2 x the weight of a 6month old @ 6kg = 12kg.  All Moses basket must do this when new, but we know they weaken over time, the handles can break or the bottom can fall out!

Shnuggle is about 5 x Stronger! Safely tested to exceed 50kg without any long term damage or failure. To put this into perspective, this is the equivalent to:-

  • 14,044 One pence pieces (3.56g each)
  • 370 iPhone 4's (135g each)
  • 50 bags of sugar (1kg each)
  • 10 Maxi Cosi Car seats (4.5kg each)
  • 1 Dishwasher (50kg)
  • 45% Of a baby elephant (112kg each)
And of course, one precious bundle of joy!

So when considering the safest place for your baby to sleep - remember Shnuggle - The Modern Moses Basket.

Traditional Moses basket are made from Palm or Maize leaves, which are woven together by hand, far, far away in Morocco or China .  They can be stored for months at a time where bugs, bacteria and damp can invade the baskets.

They are then shipped around the world on huge ocean liners, for 6-8 weeks and subject to the harsh sea environments. Once they arrive in the UK, the baskets have to be fumigated to kill all the bugs in the baskets, and who knows where the chemicals go after the fumigation?

Once this ordeal is over the Moses baskets are ready for use. Phew! By contrast, the birth of a Shnuggle basket is much simpler.

We ask a nice manufacturer in the West Midlands to make us some Shnuggle baskets. He makes them - about one every 2 minutes - they are then packed up and sent to us for assembly into finished baskets.

Typically we have the baskets in under 2 weeks. Bug free, no fumigation, no transport damage and no long journeys around the world.

This means that we have 100% perfect, super strong baskets ready to go in the UK on a moments notice.

Isn't that refreshing!
